By layering, transforming, and reconstructing multiple photographs, the medium of photography itself is expanded and redefined.
It is not a means of recording reality, but a new approach to painting an image.
The works may look like paintings, but they all originate from photographs.
My aim is not to blur the boundaries between photography and painting. Rather, it is to explore the inherent possibilities of photography as a medium and expand its expressive domain.
The countless photographs that make up each work are treated like paint, yet they are more than mere materials. Each one contains memories of the moment, place, and time in which it was taken, and as they are reconstructed within new relationships, they transform into a single image with multi-layered meaning.
Fragments of reality connect, intersect, and eventually emerge as a new world that does not exist in reality. In this process, chance and necessity become intricately intertwined, leading to discoveries that even I, the creator, cannot predict.
Photographs transform from records to materials, and from materials to expressions.
marble is an exploration of painting through photography.
