Throughout Japan, there are trees that are considered giants and designated as natural monuments.
These trees range in age from several hundred years to well over a thousand years, and some of them cannot be precisely identified.
The trunks, roots, and branches, which have grown and etched a history far beyond imagination, exude an overwhelming presence that captivates those who behold them.
And its growth continues until it withers, so within a single tree, there are parts that are a thousand years old and leaves that have grown this year, truly making it a history in itself.
Many of these trees have been revered by people for generations as sacred trees of temples and shrines.
Perhaps it is because they have been carefully protected and nurtured that they have been able to grow to this day without succumbing to natural disasters or diseases.
In this work, I have captured, in my own way, the moments that convey the presence emanating from the tree and the history it has etched into it.
Trees are something we usually don't pay much attention to in our daily lives, but I hope you'll take this opportunity to see their magnificent growth.
