RYUJI  TOKUDA

日本各地には巨木と言われ、天然記念物に指定されている木があります。

その樹齢は数百年から悠に千年を超え、中には正確に樹齢が特定出来ない木もあります。

想像を超えるほどの長きに渡る歴史を刻み生長してきた幹や根、枝などは見るものを圧倒する存在感を放ちます。

そしてその生長は枯れるまで続き、一本の木の中で千年前の箇所もあれば今年つけた葉も存在するという、まさしく歴史そのものとなっています。

そういった木の多くは代々寺社の御神木として人々に崇められてきました。

大事に守り育てられてきたからこそ、自然災害や病気にも倒れることなく現在まで生長できたのかもしれません。

この作品ではその木から滲み出る存在感や刻んだ歴史などが伝わる箇所を私なりに切り撮った作品です。

普段の生活では気にも留めない存在の「木」ですが、この機会にこの偉大な生長をした姿をご覧頂きたいです。

There are trees designated as natural monuments as huge trees throughout Japan.

Its age is from several hundred years to more than a thousand years, and some trees are too old to know their age correctly.

The tree trunks, roots and branches carved into the history beyond the imagination have a presence that overwhelms the viewer. In addition, many of the trees have been revered for many years as the sacred trees of temples and shrines.

In this work, it is a work that expresses the presence transmitted from the huge tree, the place where the history that has been inscribed, etc. is transmitted and expressed in a way of its own.
